Trek for Life - Kilimanjaro 2005

The ELC sponsored a seminar on Inspiration, Motivation and Practical Leadership skills based on lessons learnt climbing Everest on 14 June. The seminar, led by Ian Woodall, was held be in aid of Trek for Life - Kilimanjaro 2005 an expedition to the top of Kilimanjaro designed as a fundraising initiative for a number of European charities in need of financial support.

The expedition coincides with the Africa Decade of Disabled People (2000-2009), an initiative which aims to promote awareness and commitment to full participation, equality and empowerment of people with disabilities. Gerald Strickland, Secretary General of the ELC, will be taking part in the climb in aid of the following charities:

  • Christian Blind Mission International (CBMI) based in Germany. An independent aid organisation, dedicated to serving eye patients, blind and otherwise disabled people in developing countries - www.christoffel-blindenmission.de
  • Ir - Razzett tal Hbiberija (Park of Friendship) based in Malta. A charitable organisation that offers an array of recreational and therapeutic services to persons with a disability - www.razzett.com
